What is the difference between waterproof and water resistant?

Water-resistant safety boots can withstand a certain amount of moisture but will eventually let water in after a period of time. Waterproof boots and shoes provide more protection from water and will repel it, keeping your feet dry. However, they tend not to be as breathable as water-resistant footwear as they allow less air to pass through.

Can my feet still get wet wearing waterproof boots?

The short answer is yes they can. Whilst the waterproof membrane will keep water away from your feet, if your boots aren't high enough and water splashes in over the top, your feet will get wet. So, if you're working in an environment that may have puddles or areas of water that can splash over the top, higher boots such as the Boulder may be the best option for you.

What are breathable safety shoes?

Waterproof footwear can still allow your feet to breathe, as long as they contain the right type of membrane. Membranes that are full of microscopic holes smaller than water molecules keep wetness out but allow perspiration to escape so your feet can breathe and therefore keep cool.
